So this will be a monthly post dedicated to the latest bookish news, ranging from cover reveals, to adaption reveals and casting information. Let me know if you want it to stay as being a monthly staple! For now it should stay as just a blog post but this may change to a video at some point!
So without further ado let us get onto our debut post!
So the first big release/cover reveal of the past few weeks was Gregory Maguire’s latest book based on The Nutcracker. Hiddensee: The Tale of the Once & Future Nutcracker. I am so excited to read his newest novel- if you didn’t know, he wrote the Wicked series which the hit musical is based on and ugh – it’s such a good (dark) series! This book is definitely my most highly anticipated of the latter half of the year.
Known Release Date: 31st October 2017
An unexpected surprise this month was a release from M.R Carey – the author of Girl with all the Gifts. His release of Boy on the Bridge, is a novel set in the same world as GwatG and it’s expected to be just as tense and lyrical.
Release Date: 4th May 2017
Wires and Nerve (Vol 2||Gone Rogue) by Marissa Meyer has been given a release date and a cover reveal. Set to release a year on from its debut graphic novel into the world of Scarlet, Cinder, Wolf and the rest of the gang its cover is definitely continuing on its predecessor’s theme.
Release Date: January 2018
After being obsessed with the Illuminae series (Kristoff, and Kaufman) I was really excited to see Kaufman and Spooner team up again after their Starbound trilogy. Unearthed is the first one in the series and I am super excited for it!
Release Date: 9th Jan 2018
Showstopper has also been a novel that slipped under my radar, but I’ve just been in the mood for more circus themed books, and SS is just that! I really love the cover, which was released last month.
Release Date: 13th June 2017
A gorgeous cover reveal for a sequel graced the internet recently, and that is Jessica Cluess’s second book to a Shadow Bright and Burning, and that is A Poison Dark and Drowning.
Release Date: 17 September 2017
My last book for this section (believe me this could be so much longer)is a known release date and title for the Illuminae files 3. Obsidio will grace our bookshelves 13th March 2018.
In TV we have some exciting casting news and a new adaption taking place.
For starters, for anyone that has followed me since the start of Wedges of Lemon, they will know I am a massive fan of Jessie Burton (The Miniaturist and The Muse) and the former is being made into a three part drama for BBC One!
Casting has already been announced, Nella is to be played Anya-Taylor Joy and she looks spectacularly innocent and dainty. Ugh my Nella. Marin is to be played by Romola Garai- and she looks perfect as well. Jessie Burton has commented that the cast are exact replicas of how she imagined them, and that is good enough for me!
Release Date: Sometime in Autumn 2017
(This may be slightly older news but hey, this was news to my own ears and it might be for you too!) The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah – which was one of my favourite books from last year has had its film rights sold and a director put in place to tell the World War II story of our two sisters. Michelle MacLaren will direct the film but as of yet there is little information on the release date or any casting details.
Ready Player One was originally slated for release this year, but has now been pushed back until 2018. Simon Pegg and Ben Mendelsohn to star.
Release Date: 30th March 2018
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness has also been picked up for a film set to be released in 2018. For now we don’t know much more than Daisy Ridley who is set to star in it.
One of my favourite books of this year Caraval by Stephanie Garber is now in production! Twentieth Century Fox picked up the rights, with the producer of Divergent now on board!
And there you have it! There is my selection for this month’s edition of BookFlash! Let me know down below if you’re excited for any of these! I hope you enjoyed it and let me know if it’s something you would like me to continue!
Love, Em x
