The Penultimate Peril Book Review (A Series of Unfortunate Events #12)

The Penultimate Peril (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #12)The Penultimate Peril by Lemony Snicket

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Second to last book in this thirteen part series….- wow and what a journey it’s been with the Baudelaires!

This book carries on from the Grim Grotto where we left Mr Poe on Briny Beach and set off with Kit Snicket in a purple taxi.
This book starts to tie up everyone together, Sir from the Miserable Mill, Justice Strauss from A Bad Beginning etcetc. They all play their parts in finding out pieces of information about the SUGAR BOWL AND VFD.

It was really nice to see some of these characters again – I do love Justice Strauss! – and to have them all come together as part of one story was pleasing to see! I think my favourite part of this book is Count Olaf and the children literally being in the same boat as they bob away to safety away from the burning Hotel Denouement. It did make me wonder…why does Lemony Snicket have an obsession with burning buildings? Burn this, burn that- sighs…

A thoroughly enjoyable book, the end is near…only one more book to go…
