So this one has been my favourite to do so far, and I am not going to waffle on- we are getting straight in!
These are in no particular order as I love them all!!
No.10 The Muse by Jessie Burton
How exquisite is that?! I love the type writer at the bottom and all of the illustrations spreading from that, it’s so symbolic and beautiful- rghdjfhh it fits perfectly for the story inside!
No.9 Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
I just love this. The way the Kingdom is in the crow feathers and how the crow is splayed open. It’s just beautiful. Bravo illustrator!
No. 8 The Diabolic by S.J Kincaid
To have one half of this a beautiful butterfly representing Sidonia, to the bottom have being deadly as Nemesis – this is a fantastic depiction of two characters into one. The tagline as well is just djkfghfdkjgh I love it!
No. 7 Gemina by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman
One – The damn essay print on the front- is frickin’ insane! The dust jacket doesn’t pick up that well on camera as some of it is see through to go with the hardback but UGH this just blows my mind!
No. 6 Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel
This book is beautiful. A face lit by stars with a simple black back drop. Nothing else to say (the sequel looks equally as exquisite!)
No.5 Eleanor by Jason Gurley
A woodland that transforms into a face of a girl. Or a girl’s face that transforms into a woodland. You choose.
No. 4 Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
Blurry this picture may seem, but it was the only way to depict the beautiful crow on the under cover. The simple enamel uhjhg on the back it has more feathers flying off the crow- the amount of detail in this book is incredible.
No. 3 The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron
I love the tree on this front cover, I love the gold and the purple colours chosen but the one thing I love most about this is the quote and the speckles of gold on the undercover. You don’t often see the tagline under the dust jacket as well so this was a pleasant surprise.
No. 2 Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
This cover is poetic and poignant and so simple as well. I just don’t have the words to say why it’s one of my favourites this year – such a lovely design.
And finally my last choice: No.1 Everland by Wendy Spinale
Peter Pan – Check. Fairies – Check. Steampunk- Check. Beautiful Cover- Check. I love the colour choices, the infamous quote on the back, the wings – which are steampunked through and through. This cover is a great depiction of the story and just drags me in.
So there you have it guys, there are my choices for 2016’s TOP 10 YA book covers! This was incredibly hard but we got there in the end! What are your choices for this year? Leave a comment down below!
